Very cool! I love the Portugese 98K, but I am surprised that it has WaA135 proofs on the stock instead of WaA655. Is she all matching?

To the best of my knowledge....she is....except the bayonet
which is in the same H Block ....but not matching. (See the photo above.)
(Sn. H 19063 on the bayonet instead of Sn. H 1707 on the gun.)

All of the stock acceptance stamps show Mauser's WaA135 code.

I shot my Jungle Carbine for the first time last Saturday, I fired about 10 rounds and said enough, went back to shooting the carbines and garands, the #5 kicked like a mule. Although, I only fired 10 shots from the #5, I was surprised at the unbelievable accuracy, despite all the stories I've heard of the "wandering zero". It shot almost as well as my Swedish M38, which happens to be my best shooting bolt action surplus rifle. Chris..

maybe someone can explain to me why the portuguese mausers are waffenampted, i thought that marking was only on arms that went into the wehrmacht? or were they diverted from portuguese contract and then adopted?

They were specially made for the Portugese, but were WaA'ed like any other standard K98.

The WaA655 was for the 42 code, roughly when 42 changed to byf the WaA went to 135. That is just a later production rifle.
