        Dear Sir,

I have been waiting along time to see one of these on this forum ! Thanks for showing it. The Remingtom Model is actually a Browning Auto 5 shotgun.

Originally Remington did not want the design when J.M. Browning offered it to them, so the first models were produced at Fabrique Nationale in Belgium in 1900 as normal civilian sporting shotguns.

They were latter produced, as we see here, by Remington under a licence agreement in the US as the model 11. Used by US forces I believe but I don't know for sure where ? I also heard they were used by US police forces in the 1960's as a riot control gun ?

It is interesting to note that your piece has the words military finish stamped into it, and the model designation stamped on the bolt. I didn't know this was done but then again I have never seen a true Military Model 11 close up. This gun was also made as an 8 shot, is yours 5 shots ?

The gun was used by the British Army in Bourneo by special forces. The British army model was made by F.N. and designated as the L32A1 12ga Automatic loading FN Browning Riot Gun.

On a personal note I have had one of these (in civilian trim) in my family since 1963. I now have the family heirloom in Austria and also another one in the UK. The FN Browning Auto 5 (Remingtom Mod.11) is the best shotgun ever produced in my opinion. When anachy breaks out (and if I don't have my Steyer AUG !) I want a Browning A5.

I humbley post a picture of one of mine. As you can see with a 34 inch barrel this one is more for duck shooting than riot control ! However it takes only a few seconds to change the barrel and I have a selection of those

Thank you so much for showing this gun.

        Regards Craig.
