.25 Auto Beretta

Hi Guys, this just came my way with a few more hand guns from an old collection,a little Beretta in .25 auto,the holster Im guessing is original to the gun.
Can anyone shed a little light on this pistol,is it a prewar/wartime pistol? could it be military or Police issue?
The guy it came from picked it up in 1972 via a want add in a local paper,Im wondering if it was a souvineer from WWII.
Missing a mag if anyone may know where to find one,sorry for the bad picture...my kids have been using the camera and boys being boys have managed to poke little fingerprints everywhere,if you want better pics I can do some more.

What is the date on your Beretta.. I have several war time 418s in holsters some were purchased by the German Command in Rome...BILL

It is a Beretta Model 418, introduced around 1922 and produced until the 50s.

There is a date stamped on the slide. My guess is "1938". In addition I can see Roman algarisms "XVI". It means that this gun was made in the 16th year of the "Fascist Age" (which started in 1922, when Mussolini took over the control). So, you can considered as a wartime pistol (not made during WII, but possibly used during that war.

Bill thanks for the links,your North African pick up has the same holster as my one.
Im only guessing but its highly probable this was a Kiwi souvineer from either North Africa or Italy.

Last production was in 1961.
