        Thanks Guys! now I just need to see if the name on it is researchable or if i can trace the rifle serial number to a unit, not sure if it's possible or not.

            Sweet rifle, for sure! The carrying bag looks a little to flimsy to be rigger made, as riggers tended to strengthen para gear. More pics of the rifle when you get a chance!

              you can go to the National Archives data base, i got a hit there on a name that was carved into the barrel channel of a Standard Products m1 carbine that was brought home possibly by that vet, the rifle was stone cold as manufactured (Original). try SRS data base you'll have to e-mail the guy who is running it now. if you get a hit he'll let you know and then if you want more info there is a fee involved. best regards
