    Market Value for a Panzerschreck

Does anyone have any idea what the market value for a panzerschreck might be in undamaged, but 'battle used' condition, dated 1944 with SA Finnish reissue marks?

Have a opportunity to buy one, but it is expensive.

I was offered one earlier this year for $2K. It was a nice schreck. With shield and camo paint. I wasn't confident of the camo paint, though. But, otherwise, a very nice and complete panzerschreck.

      panzerschreck

A local gunshop had one of these mounted to their building above the shop window, had their sign hanging from it, and a flashing red light on the end! It had quite a few coats of red paint on it. The owner said he had bought it in the 50's, mint in the crate (obviously for a song, since he used it as a bracket).

They went out of business about 7 or 8 years ago, the next time I drove by the sign (and panzerschreck) was gone, probably trashed.

        Thanks

The price sounds about right then. This one is going $2,300 but comes with one round for display. Have decided to pick it up. Will post some images as soon as I get it.

        Thanks!

John, I would hope that the price includes the shield. Many of these are missing the shield. If not, that's an expensive accessory to come by, if you can ever find one. Confirm with the seller that there is a shield.

Thanks Jack. It does include the shield with an intact glass for the site opening. The shield cover also includes a small metal holder with an extra replacement glass. It also includes a web carrier strap.

In fact it comes with the original users manual dated 7.6.44. It also includes some really cool pictures on how to use it and sight tanks (uses a T-34 frontal image as an illustrated example on how to sight). Will try to post images as soon as I can.

              May I ask...

              Hi John,

May I ask you if or how it was deactiveted? I have seen some of them for sale with six big holes made in the tube! It is awful!

For an intact piece the price is OK. Be aware about it...

              Regards,

              Douglas.

                Hi Doug,

Thanks for the heads up - there are no obvious holes in the tube - it never occured to me to confirm how it is deactivated. Will confirm with the seller.

The only obvious modification is a small weld at the rear of the tube to one of the exhaust 'spokes' (I have no idea what this is called). The shoulder bracket, and trigger is in fine condition (it can actually be pulled). The small tube from the trigger to the rear of the tube to engage the shreck projectile is there. From studying period photos and comparing, it looks complete. Unfortunately, while the front support bracket is there, the small latch to secure it is gone. The projectile itself is dewated.

Everyone's advice is great by the way!

Is there anyone else in forum land who owns one and is able to post photos?

                John
