    WW2 FN WAa140 Mag needed

    Hi,
I have a WAa140 marked WW2 High Power in need of magazine. Does anyone know of any for sale? I realize this is a fairly common pistol, but the proper mags are a bit difficult to come by. I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Mike

        Magazine

Probably keep an eye on gunbroker and post on gunboards and the P38forum for a mag, it won't be cheap.... Chris...

          Thanks Chris,
I figured these mags would not be cheap. In today's market, the mag may cost almost as much as this gun is worth. Thanks for the information.

In Europe you can find them for 60-75€
I'll keep an eye open for one if you wish

One reason that they are difficult to come by is that many German contract HPs were never originally equipped with WaA marked magazines.

If your is a "a" block or higher there is a very good chance that it was not issued with a WaA stamped mag.

                  Hi,
Thanks for the additional information. I am a bit new at this, what would I be looking for based on your mention of ("A") block or higher?
                  Thanks,
                  Mike

The German contract WWII HP mags are pretty easy to distinguish from both the pre-war and the post war variations once you become familar with the details of the design and manufacturing. The tough part is finding enough non-mag-enhanced HPs to get through this learning curve. This was easy 30+ years ago but not so easy today as there have been a LOT of "Nazi" HPs with their original mags changed out for WaA stamped ones.

I know that by the 10,000a range they were issuing these without WaA marked mags. I don't how much if any earlier (lower a range) this started if any earlier. I also don't know if they, as a rule, issued WaA marked mags with these HPs in the ranges higher than 10,000a along with the unstamped mags. In other words had for new issue with HPs both marked and unmarked in the ranges higher than 10,000a.

                      HP WAa140

                      Hello.
Thank you very much for your explanation. My HP has a 4 digit serial number with what appears to be a lower case letter b.
                      Thanks again,
                      Mike

                        WaA140 High Power Mag

                        Hi,
I wish to thank all the members who responded to my thread regarding my need for an original WaA140 High Power mag. I have located (2) one WaA140 marked and the other unmarked. I may only be keeping one, so if anyone knows of someone interested in a Pre - 1945 HP mag. let me know.
                        Thanks,
                        Mike
