Very, very nice. I especially like the serial number ending in "000"

So this is a Full Auto and not an Semi-automatic conversion? Another plus

First of all I would like to thank William for posting the pictures, secondly when I said fully functional I meant it was not a dewat, it is a CA semi auto fireing weapon.Do not want people thinking its something its not sorry for not sateting that at the start.

Nice. Looks like a later Savage that's been refinished at some point. Also, the wood has been sanded and refinished and the front grip is not original, but a later West Hurley addition. This late of a serial number would have had a horizontal grip for sure.

It's always nice to see a survivor. Thanks for sharing.

A stupid question: upon the adoption of the M1 / M1A1 model, did they restart the serial numbers? Or it just followed from the Model 1928 models?

Thats a good question,I would mind knowing the answer myself. If I had to quess I would probaly say they started with new serial numbers.

Serial numbers for the M1 Thompson SMG started at #1, as this model was viewed as a fundementally new firearm with almost no interchangeable parts between the M1 and the Savage-production M1928A1 series. As the M1A1 modification came into production, serial numbers continued apace, making it a bit more difficult to determine where the cutoff is between M1 and M1A1 production. Keep in mind there were two manufacturers of the M1/M1A1 models.
