Question about P-38 magazine markings

Hello Gentlemen,

Will some one please be so kind as to tell me what this marking means.

1. WHAT IS THE SMALL "v" STAND FOR?

Hi Vince,

The small "v" following the P.38 stamp was introduced in the Spring of 1943 and meant that the tube was lengthed slightly, 2mm if I remember right. I assume it was to improve the feed characteristics of the mag.
