My "new" Browning High Power and afew other goodies.

Just got my high Power from my local gun range-shop.Pretty happy with it blueing is about 80% great bore.When i went to pick it up one of the owners said he wanted me to take a look at something that just came in.I went to the safe with him and he pulled out a box with a Radom in it and a nazi armband.He asked me if I was interested and I said of course.My lucky week ,i go inthere all the time and never see any WW2 era pistols and I scored 2 in 1 week. Maryland laws suck so I have to wait 30 days since I just got the High Power.Thanks for looking .Does anyone know what the S is between the slide and the top of the wood grip ,also the serial # is suffix b 33051.What year of production is this?Thanks

Is it the just the pictures, or am I guessing correctly that you've cleaned the wood on all of these beauties?

Is the turret rifle an original WW2 wartime-built set-up?

thanks,on the pistols the wood wasnt cleaned by me,dont know what happened before I got them.The high turret is a post WW2 rebuild.Got it on Gunbroker from a guy in Tenn.Was built by Waffen Arms out of Tenn.He used to have a site but is now out of business.Cant afford the 15 to 20 k so this is what I got. I know how some feel about "bubba" rifles but I cant justify the price of a real WW2 sniper and the possibility of it being fake even if I could afford one.The Garand is a 1942 barrel date with a replacement stock.The luger is a byf 42 98% blueing all matching except the clip and the p38 is a z code 1944 in the same condition with non matching clip also

any High Power colectors out there that know what the S between the slide and top of the grip means,also the suffix b and serial #33051 what month and year of production?Thanks for any input

Hi,

Regarding the serial number and production date of your pistol, the following text was sent to me on another board when I asked about my own HP35:

".... 'a' block was made in 1943 and the 60k+ "b" block was made in 1944 up to when the germans abondoned the factory in in late aug 1944.
Since there were 100K "a" block pistols over the 12 months, assuming linear production, an average of 8k+ were made each month.
This places your S/N 97745a final acceptance in the last weeks of December 1943.

Remember the germans took the the factory on may 29 1940. They started production at serial number 50,000 and went up to around 212,000 before starting the "a" suffix numbering.
This is 160,000 pistols for 1/2 of 1940, 1941 and 1942 or 30 months for an average of 5+k per month.
Compared to 160,000 pistols for 1943 and 8 months of 1944 or 20 months for an average of 8+k per month. This is odd production out put."
