Fake rear sight cover?

Old stiff leather for sure, I have never had one before. I know the markings are certainly fake, but what about the cover itself? Large rivets on the back are indicative of a fake, right? Thanks for looking

Looks artificially aged to me.. . any tanning acid smell?

Hi Craig, no there is not. If I had to guess, I would say the leather is old. Any input though is greatly appreciated, thanks,
