Help with M1 Garand decision

A CMP Stock is no problem at all. They are Govt. replacements. The ones I have seen are pretty darn good hunks of wood. Most Garands have gone through the overhaul pipeline while still in the posession of Uncle Sam. If the bore is good and it headspaces correctly, $700 is a good price. Of course you could hunt deer with it, it's a 30-06, tens of thousands of deer are killed with '06 rifles every year, but it's pretty heavy and expensive to tote around in the woods. You can snag a decent meat-getter for a lot cheaper, and it will be a bunch easier to hump all day. Another consideration, some states limit magazine capacity for hunting rifles.
