Buying flare gun from EU countries - licence?

    Hello,

I'd like to purchase german Leuchtpistole from some EU country, probably Germany as many guns are available from there. Why do sellers at eGun for example demand WBK (weapon owner card) from international buyers? In Estonia (EU) flare gun does not require licence when over 18 years old. Does some law in Germany require it?

What other EU countries do not require licence for this? Austria, France?...

Hope someone can help me out with this! Thanks in advance for any tips.

    Hi,

In France, you only need to be 18 yeras old to be authorised to have flare guns but you can't wear it in the street !!!
Bu I know that in UK, they need to be dactivated (even if you have a boat, you'll need a special licence). In Belgium, it's free (like in France).
Concerning Germany, I don't know what are the rules..

Interesting. Thanks for reply! So it's basically no problem for seller in France or Belgium to ship flare gun to other country which has same rules? I know authorities here are Ok with flare guns being shipped into Estonia, even from overseas. Same with deactivated guns, if papers present (even through customs). I understand also that if it's surface mail you can ship with no worries all kind of stuff which could cause concerns between seller-buyer, I do mean legal items here! Such as flare gun.

So the question for Germany still remains! Perhaps a copy (scan) of identification for age would be enough? I also noticed some sellers mentioning some EU document that needs to be filled when selling gun. Never heard of it but they do provide such link:

      http://www.egun.de/market/images/eu-anlage19.gif

Does seller have to fill it or buyer?! Anyone?

I'm also curious on experiences of German members here on shipping deactivated gun in EU. Again, no problem here as I said but has anyone sold deactivated gun and was this flawless? I'm interested in deactivated k98 at some point for display and maybe reenactment but would like to hear opinions.

        Hi,

Just a comment concerning deactivated guns. Because of different laws in each country, a english deactivated gun may not be recognized in an other country, because of the lack of proof stamps... so not very easy to understand what are the laws .. maybe some good advices can be given by a gunsmith in your country or ask your custom...

Basically said , if you want to buy a deactivated flare gun in Germany , you have to check and you need :
          1. is you gun law ( in Estonia)accepting the deactivation for 100 %( normally in Germany : barrel closed, 6 holes , bolt cut off in a 45° angle
          2. the seller have to fill out a "export paper " and needs a acceptance of his government / agency

If you want to buy a flare gun non deactivated , you will need this "Sammler WBK" . Also if your gun law is accepting such a gun , the seller will get big problems if he give out a gun which is registered on this weapon card (= Sammler WBK" ) .

Any questions ? Only ask for it

          cheers schmeisser

            Big thanks!
I'm interested in working a flare gun. We do not need a licence for it here. I do have a licence but for assault rifle. Here you also don't need "collector's licence" to have a flare gun. Such licence is needed for bayonets and more serious firearms. Interesting if you consider this - a flare gun or crossbow can be bought without a licence but bayonets need collector's licence! Also I understand daggers are allowed

But thanks for explaining, I think I understand it now. A gun deactivated in the way you have described is accepted here.
But let me get this straight just in case - I need to fill out this form I showed on the link to buy working flare gun and send it to seller? Or does he have to fill it out.

            Regards,
            Toivo
