    M1 Carbine Early Barrel Band

    Hi,
I have an early issue M1 carbine barrel band. I would like to know if it appears to be G.I. issue? There are no distinguishing letters or markings that I can find. What do you think?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Mike the screw for the swivel doesn't look right, IMHO it's a reproduction. it also doesn't look like it's 60+ yrs old the finish is to new looking and not the correct color either no "patina". best regards

            Thank you,
I had a feeling this was a possible reproduction, you answered my question.

It's a repo.... The band that goes around the bbl protrudes from the larger band. It should be slightly inside. I agree with the assessment of the finish.

I have no problem with the finish but the screw looks wrong as does the barrel ring.

Spare parts often do not have the same finish as parts that have been on the firearm, aka that nice greenish color we all love. Not that this part is original.

                  Early Barrel Band

                  Thanks again,
You've confirmed my feelings. Honest early barrel bands appear to be very difficult parts to find.

Michael, what you need to do is get with a collector who has been collecting the M1 Carbine for a long time who has the early part(s) your looking for. usually early parts have been used on rifles and removed from them; NOS parts like that in package are extremely rare and VERY pricey when found if the finish looks to good and fresh it's a reproduction. best regards
