    P-38 shoulder holster rig

    I'm posting a picture of a nice BYF 43 that I bought from the vet who brought it back.It was taken from a German officer captured in Italy.The whole rig is as it was taken in WW2 It isn't German made. The only mark I can find is on the button snap on the back for a belt loop. The button is leather covered and says english made.Even though it is not German issue ,I will never seperate it.Has any one seen anything similar ?

    Nice rig and beautiful tunic! About the shoulder holster, if I´m not mistaken there was a discussion about this subject on this forum somewhere in the past. Try to dig it out using the "search" tool.

      Thanks Douglas. By the way the tunic is for a grenadier ,which is hard to see in the picture.
      I tried several searches but didn't come up with anything on shoulder holsters.Thanks again, Mitch

        Nice tunic. It must be a small world because I use to own this very tunic. Is it a Panzer Grenadier Hauptman's uniform? There can't be two just like this one. I also remember that it had the original sew in loops for the DKIG + close combat bar as well as the other pocket loops. There should also be signs of once having a cufftitle on the left sleeve. A friend of mine hounded me for two years to sell him this very tunic, which was complete with medals except for the DKIG. After I sold it to him he immediately turned around and stripped off the medals and sold the blouse at a show, really pissed me off BTW! Anyway congrats, it is a great piece, Jeff A

          Since we are both from Wisconsin and I bought it at a show in Milwaukee years ago I believe you are probably right. It had the medals on it minus the German cross but he didn't want to sell the medals.All medal loops are original.I can't see where there might have been a cufftitle but I'm sure it is the same tunic.I don't think I would sell your friend anything anymore.             just one thing; the 2 emblems at the iron cross seem to switch places You better keep an eye on them
