    need help with thsi gun

    I bought this gun about a year ago without seeing it. A friend of mine was at a yard sale and called me and said there was a gun look like my other ones but in much better shape so i told him to buy it for me. Well i dont know anything about this one the caliber isnt even on it so any heop would be great

        Belgium made Model 1924 30-06 bolt action rifle......Made by Fabrique Nationale(FN) in 1951.....Bodes

            The "notched" receiver is designed to accept the longer 30-06 round, similar to the postwar converted Norwegian mausers......Bodes

              well thanks that gun has been sitting in a corner since i bought it i will put it in a vise and put a few rounds through it and make sure it is sound then it will be a official deer gun after it is sighted in

                  it's Belgian army issue, ABL -> ARMEE BELGIQUE BELGISCH LEGER -> Belgian army

                  The big L stands for LEOPOLD a presume-> which was the king of Belgium during the war but was kicked of his throne during the 50's
                  nice one!

                    Tom is correct.....The stylized 'L' stands for King Leopold who died in 1951....This was added to the top of the receiver in remembrance of him.....Bodes
