    anyone know anything about walter ppk

    Hey,
    A friend of mine just showed me a walter ppk, that has been in his family for as long as he can remember. I know nothing of these my particular interest is in lugers. The gun is not marked anywhere with any makers mark, is not marked made in germany. it just has an eagle with an n under it, in various places. the other thing is it has ac after the six digit serial number the letter suffix is p. just wondering if anyone could give me some more info on this weapon. Me and my friend both like guns with alittle history behind them so i was just seeing where this might lead

    The gun is of 1945 vintage. A lot of these AC PP/PPK were vet put together s. Value is a lot lower than the early serial numbered ones.

      yeah, sounds like the vets liberated a factory. often the vets would pay the germans to build them a gun after the war ended.

        It might be a put together ... or not.
        Without pictures is difficult to give you any accurated information.

          Your friend showed you a Walther PP, not a PPK. The serial number suffix indicates the type of pistol: P=PP and K=PPK. There are no other marks on the gun becasue the "ac" was the code indicating Waffenfabrik Walther as the manufacturer. The serial number would help establish more history of this gun if you would care to share it.

            When the serial numbers got somewhere in the upper 380,000P/low 390,000P range is when they begin appearing with scrambled numbers between the frame and slide. It is thought that most of these were assembled after the Walther factory was occupied by American forces.
            BTW, no such thing as an AC coded PPK.

              Thanks all I will see him this Friday (poker night) and let him know what he has with the little info given. I will see if i can take some pictures and put the serial number up.

                Walther factory

                The Walther factory was indeed occupied by American GI's.
                I knew the US colonel put in charge after the occupation.
                The factory was a cottage industry by that time in 1945.
                The GI's would trade for the ac marked PP's all of them as far as I know were mismatched. It is a recognized variation and as such is valuable to collectors.
                An interesting side note the colonels bring home PP was filly engraved by the factory engraver.
                A poorly finished mis-matched gun yet fully engraved.
                His son is a Special Agent with the FBI. I doubt if the gun will ever surface but should it the collectors at the time would scoff at it as a fake.
