    Remington Rand 1911A1

I need to know what to look for in determining the WW2 originality of a RR 1911A1. I saw one in a local gunshop for $800 in about 70% condition but I have no idea as to what to look for. Markings, dates, etc. Any and all help greatly appreciated, pics are sadly not available unless I buy the thing.

make sure the frame and slide belong to each other as in the serial range matches what was assigned to RR, take a strong light with you and hold it down close to the finish if you see RED basically rust in the finish it's a good indicator the finish is original it's called a patina no patina it's been refinished. it should have an HS marked barrel for High Standard if it's an early one it could have a Colt or HS marked barrel also go to coolgunsight.com look at the RR pics and parts break down so you know what to look for in the small parts trigger, hammer, slide stop etc.

Thanks a lot, tried that link but it was not valid. Tried coolgunsite.com and that worked. I'll check it out so when I return to the shop tomorrow, I'll know what I'm looking at

Gene, There are several different finishes for this maker. Depending on year of mfg.
There are no matching serial numbers on RR just the one on the frame.
A 70% gun is not considered a collectable just a shooter therefore the price is to high.
You can find a 95% gun in the $1400.00 range
The date of mfg and pictures would help if youre intent on this one.
