Ammo box value

Hello gentlemen,

My granddad gave me this ammo box. I have no idea what´s its worth, nor the date. Could someone shed some light in it?

The box alone is actualy worth more than the ammo. But then again maybe not at todays prices.


No realy the box and old ammo in it is worth about $45 or more on a good day.

I really do not have a use for this ammo so it just stays in a cellar in my home. I wanted to get some cash by getting rid of it, but dealing with ammo and arms just like that(the allowed, small caliber, non automatic ones) is quite a serious offense.

.32 S&W is a very low pressure lightweight round, rimmed and was never used in an autoloader to the best of my knowledge. If the restrictions are on military type ammo suitable for use in autoloaders, this isn't it. It was used extensively in small pocket-sized revolvers, mainly the cheaper top break styles such as S&W 4th model, H&R, Iver Johnson and dozens of knock-offs around the world. The higher end D/A Colts such as the Police Model and the Police Positive were chambered for .32 S&W Long, (.32 Police) but will fire this ammo safely. Since it is quite old, if it is fired, it will likely be somewhat higher pressure from deterioration of the powder, and likely is mercuric (corrosive) primers. I own several .32s and this ammo is basically only worth having to enhance the value of the box. The $40-$50 US. price is about right for the box, with the ammo being great to have, but of little concern.
