    What should I get

Since I am 18, I can buy a gun from a dealer. I am thinking about adding another gun to my gun collection, a cheap one. What should I get? I will let you guys decide.

    Mosin M91/30
    Steyr M95 carbine
    Carcano of some kind
    Swiss K31
    Yugo Mauser
or maybe save a little and buy a Saiga (I want one sooo bad)

    Get 'em all!!!
Seriously, if you are limited I would do this....I would get a 91/30 as they are still relatively inexpensive (although I'm partial to the Model 38 Mosin), I also think the Steyer is a neat little rifle... But, here is what you need to consider...if you are going to shoot this rifle be aware that the price of ammo has gone up massively over the past year, political factors, etc. The 7.62x54 is still relatively cheap and plentiful, I don't have the other rifles you mentioned in my collection, although I can tell you that the Carcano ammo will be expensive as I don't think that there is a lot of surplus ammo around in either caliber offering for the Carcano.
If you have a serious intention of shooting you may want to get one rifle and invest some money into reloading equipment (A simple single stage press)-I took the plunge at age 23 and basically taught most of it to myself, and asked lots of questions of co-workers that did....and some good reloading guides.
Also, a lot of rifles are typically cheaper through a Wholesale distrubutor, pick up a copy of "Shotgun News" and read through it, lots of advertisers and weapons available....Also don't rule out the auction sites, Gunbroker.com and Auctionarms.com. Both of these sites have a link to listings of FFL (license) holders that can accept a shipment for you, some do it for a real low fee (sometimes 10$-20$), even when you pay the shipping you still come out ahead compared to a lot of gun dealers and even shows. If you go to gunshows, go with the intent to dicker on the price, sometimes you'll be suprised and get a great deal that way.
Also, if you like US weapons, save up, meet the requirements, and purchase a M1 Carbine or M1 Garand through the Civillian Marksmanship Program, cmp.com.
If I was getting a Mauser I'd pass on the Yugo, and look for a "Russian Capture" K98, more history behind that for sure....
Also, don't forget to check your local pawnshops, I have a couple that I frequent that have screaming deals from time to time....

One more suggestion: if you like the Saiga idea consider a Russian SKS, they are still out there, very neat rifles, and very collectible (prices have gone up a lot) rifles. But, you'll love 'em. I just picked up two about a month ago for 225$ each in their boxes, mint....deals can still be found, more will be found locally than the internet. Chris...

I have toyed with the idea of getting another SKS, I already have a chinese one, but I dont know. I like the idea of another Arisaka too. Maybe I will just get some kind of AK style gun to go with my AR 15.

I managed to pick up my excellent condition M44 moisin-nagant at a local sporting goods store (Big 5) for $89...

this was a couple of years ago but I cant imagine the prices have gone up too much on them.

It even came with a sling, ammo pouches, and an oiler/ cleaning tools!

As far as AK's are concerned I am completely shocked at the current going prices them... I picked up my Romanian AK (probable the cheapest AK variant) last summer and it cost me $400 which I thought was pretty steep, but I called about a dozen different dealers and only found one that had the rifle in stock.

The last gun show I went to I saw Romanian AK's on a table selling for $750!!

Go with a cheap 91/30 ! you can shoot it all day long, and the ammo is still pretty cheap! 20 rds for $5 here in Cali. Military surplus ammo. You can still find it everywhere!

Its a tossup between a M91/30 and a Steyr M95 straight pull. I already have M44, so I dont know if I want another Mosin as I am a Arisaka collector, but I have also thought about buying a 1903a3.

I would pass on em all, and save for a tokarev even if you have to buy a finnish version. If i were you and you didnt have enuf for a tokarev, id go for a 7.62x39 SKS as the others suggested, and i wouldnt get a single stage reloader id get a CH press with 4 stages where you can load up to 200 rds an hour. That one at a time rock chucker type mentality is too slow, and youll be glad you got a little more expensive of a press, and also youll need a book that explains the science of reloading. But hey..whatever you can afford. Gotta crawl before you can walk, and everyone doesnt have the same cash ready resources nowdays.
My reply...I know didnt answer your question....sks's and tokarevs are always a favorite. So unless your moneys burning a hole in your pocket. Id wait till you can get a semi auto , as they dont kick like mules like the rifles you listed as choices, and more funnerer to shoot.

Ive got quite a gun collection right now. I have 1 SKS, 5 Arisakas, 1 matching mauser 98k dot 1944, a mosin m44, a AR 15(built it myself, using original M16 parts, except for the fire control parts and the lower reciever of course, upper doesnt even have the forward bolt assist), and I have various other guns I hunt with, plus two japanese WWII pistols I will get when I turn 21. Semi autos are a bit funner to shoot, my favorite is the AR, although I burnt myself bump firing it because it doesnt have a case deflector. I plan on doing some competition shooting with the AR ( I did 4-H shooting competitions and I won alot of 1st place trophies that I am very proud of).

I will post a pic of my entire collection when I get it off my lazy butt.

So far, I have narrowed the choices down to:
                            M91 or M91/30
                            Another Arisaka
                            M1903 of some kind
or a styer straight pull of some kind
or maybe some kind of assault weapon style gun, I want a FAL most

Wow, nice bushmaster!!! I love ARs, they are basically a universal gun, they can be used for hunting, home defense, warfare, plinking, and just about anything you can think of, its like a whole bunch of guns in one.
