    Luger DWM 9MM Undated Commercial

I have a DWM 9MM luger with no date. The condition is fairly nice, with original blue at about 85%. It contains a 4 digit serial number. It is not marked Germany and contains the word Gesichert below the safety lever. There is a stock lug on this piece as well. I don't believe the grips and magazine are original to this weapon. The trigger, safety lever and take down toggle retain approx. 60% straw color. The markings, crown N on two areas of the left side. The right side contains no markings at all. I would like to know the year this gun was made? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Without seeing the serial number, including the suffix, it is difficult to date but I would say it is what is known as a 1920 commercial. That said, the serial number might put it into the earliest Mauser production. At one time your pistol was in police use as it has been drilled and cut for a police sear safety. The grips are poor replacements that look like the crude work that Sarco used to buy from India.

Thank you for your response. As stated, the serial number consists of four numbers, 88XX There is no suffix to be found. Please let me know if there is anything else that might indicate this weapon's age?
