    Nice MP44

    Gents,

this is my deact MP44, made by Steyr in the late 1944s. Please note the simplified receiver.

The MP44 is not matching but one of the rare original blued ones.

It would be nice to hear some opinions about.

      Hello Bernie,

      thank you for your comment.

There is just a very small "H" stamped on the left side of the stock where the sling goes through.

What does that mean? Heer (army)?

I've got exactly the same stock and I'd say it's post war. I've seen dozens of WW2 pictures with MP44s and none of them showed such a stock. The only similar one is shown in Handrich's "Sturmgewehr!" as an example of very late model.

I would say a blue bnz MP44 would not be rare, but rather the phosphate MP44's are less common. In fact, the JP Sauer MP44 rifles were never phosphated, and the late Haenel guns were only phosphated late. So, I would say a blue MP44 is more common than phosphate as to total produced.

I saw one on gunbroker with a single saw cut go for 4k a while back, that seems to be the standard price for a demil on the net.

It's a deact which is far different than a demil. Not something we could even think of buying here in the states.
