The sauer 38 H was a pistol sauer was promopting to obtain a contract with the nazis , that didnt get the awarded contract expected. They are a very safe gun, as the cocking mechanism on the left side of the grip will relieve the firing pin while a round is in the chamber. It can be cocked with the same lever, or will fire double action. It is prone to trouble with the cocking mechanism, and was carried many times by luft pilots as its compreble to the walther ppk wich i believe got the contract sauer wanted.
Appears original blued, and i carried one for years till i trade it off on a p38, mine was 32 auto, im not sure if they ever came in 380, but possible, if so rarer in 380 i cant recall. Nice pistol now you need to find a holster thats original,oh..also the german police carried these among other branches of service. Mine was police marked. They are getting more expensive as time goes by. easy to clean, just dont use the cocking mechanism too much, and only when necessary. A good carry gun for close in, not as good at over 50 '.Appears police marked i believe also. looks matching also.

Jason,
what you have is a third variation of the Sauer model H. Made approximately (!) in 1943, but is quiet difficult to give an exact date.
Anyway: If the price is OK, I’d take Denny’s 1941 holster. Don’t focus too much on the date of the holster – they took anything, what was available. For example, I have a 1942 dated Sindel holster which is serialized with 413773 (the holster came with two matching magazines, numbered 773). The holster is at least one year older than the pistol, which probably was made in 1943/44.
Other serialized holsters for the Sauer H, I am aware of:
Serial number…maker…….....…………year
278049 ……....Sindel......................1942
337323..........Sindel......……………….1941
343069………..Schambach & Co..… 1942
354208………..Sindel……………......….1943
395726………..Sindel…………......…….1942
407193………..Schambach & Co.....1942
It is to be emphasized, that these holsters do have the serial number of the pistols stamped in the leather.
You see? So, a 1941 dated Sindel holster will be all right for your pistol.
Regards
