    remington nagant 1917 round

Forum Members, A friend of mine found a 1917 Remington manufactured round (7.62X54) at a local gun show this last weekend......These were made to supplement the Moison Nagant rifles going to Russia.....Of course, before the Russian revolution nixed the deal.....My question is, how scarce is this ammunition?.....Neither one of us remembers seeing one......Any information will be greatly appreciated......Bodes

Thanks very much fellas! (ala Spanky of the Lil' Rascals)

As far as my research on the internet goes, I wasn't able to obtain a value or find a definitive reason for supplying US made ammunition along with the rifles.....This of course assuming the Russians already had plenty of 7.62x54r ammo on hand for these.....The 1917 Remington manufactured Moison Nagant rifles were intended to be sent to Czarist Russia, but fell though following the revolution....

It has been speculated that some of the ammunition was sent with American troops that went to Russia (Polar Bear division).....It is also thought that perhaps the ammunition was used for proofing these firearms.....And since American soldiers later trained with these, I would assume this ammunition would've been supplied to them as well....

Considering the Remington made rifles were used by our military, some sold off commercially following WW1, and sent to Russia during Lend Lease, I would assume much of the 1917 Remington marked 7.62x54r ammo would've either been used up or disapeared....

    So hence my original question......Bodes
