    two k98 slings opinion please

I am looking into buying two k98 slings, I was offered these two, one is marked "gfg 44" with waffenampt and the other one is marked "gxy 42" without waffenampt. These are the only pictures I have but does anything look wrong at first glance? and how much are k98 slings going for these days?

I would pass..........I have not seen the waffenampt like this before on the slings. It looks wrong to me. It should have a maker mark similiar to the belt tabs that are stamped, not the large eagle and insp. number. I may be wrong, but I dont like it.

The Waffen Amt doesn't look right and I don't believe '44 dated slings would be proofed, in this manner any way......The dates look newer than the rest, which isn't good......Bodes

I agree, what I can see is that the WaA is not as the one expected to be there.
But what worries me the most is the identical design of the "g" and the "4" on the markings that should be completely different for different makers and different years.
So I think that the slings have been re-stamped postwar.
Other thing is seeing if the slings are original period, but we should have better pictures to make a call.
        Just my opinion

          Best Regards Thorsteinn.

There are a few that pop up from time to time here on the estand. They are getting harder to come by, but they do come up. Good Luck.

I had previously contacted Tommy regarding the slings but he has sold them all, I should have picked up one or two when he found the sling hoard few years ago.

                  Best Regards Thorsteinn.
