      Very nice dug up P38.
It seems that he has located for many years in the thick oil.
They will still look good after cleaning.

Can you tell us if that black gunk all over it is oil, tar, corrosion, or what? Thanks.

Definately some cool stuff that has come out of the ground ( and water) from the area. Shame the laws are fairly strict on what you may do with what you find in most areas. Happens here on occasion as well.

Have always enjoyed seeing what can be found so long after the fact.

Thanks for your comments its not oil we just kept it wet to preserve before cleaning hence the oil look !! other wise it could dry out and damage it.

Maybe a stupid question, but won't the bullets go off then?
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

That is neat! Not many have handled it since it's original owner. Post pictures after cleaning if you do clean it.

I know this is an old thread, but I am interested. Do you have any pictures after cleaning it up?? I think it may look pretty nice once it has been cleaned a little. If you can post pictures that'd be awesome
