    P08 Luger ID Help

This Luger was recently aquired by a friend of mine, according to the new owner it is 7.65mm in caliber, and the grips are replaced. It appears to me that it is marked "LAS" and crown over "N" and "B". Any idea when and where this luger was manufactured? How commonly found and the current market value?

For pictures so big, some of them are very blurry! Looks like that could be a parts gun, and that's probably all it ever will be. From what I see, you're missing the take down lever, spring for your trigger, and maybe some other internal parts?

Looks like it has parts on it from a commercial luger.

Sorry for the huge pictures - its now been resized to a suitable resolution.
Thanks for the reply Rylan, your right - it is a commercial luger, with couple of parts missing, I just did a bit of research and found out:

"N" proofmark = German "Nitro" commercial proof. Found on Lugers produced after 1920.

"B" proofmark = German military receiver proof. Found on Erfurt Lugers produced 1908-1918.

What still has me wondering is what this "LAS" marking on the frame which I never seen, I'm guessing its from the same German DWM "Nitro" commercial luger?

Without any doubt, an american import Lüger from the 20s. Due to the limitations of the treaty of Versailles, most of them were in caliber 7,65 or in 9 mm but in this case with only a 98 mm long barrel. I guess that the LAS stamping can be the mark of the importer.

It is a parts Luger. The toggle, or parts of it, are from an Imperial German army pistol. The receiver is a commercial. The side plate is from a 1930's era Swiss Luger. If it shoots enjoy it, if not get rid of it. Parts value less than $500.
