    Sten Mk3 - Sweden ?

    hi guys,
here a nice Sten MkIII .Deactivated by german law ( bolt cut off in 45°. barrel plugged , 8 holes and so on , including cerificate .
My question would be : The Magazine housing is marked "S.A." - is this Sten only from Swedish postwar production or was it used during ww2 and "re-used " in Sweden after this ?
Probably, I will give this beauty to the e-Stand next time for sale in Europe . As you can read in my name, I´m more freak of the mp40

    cheers schmeisser

The "SA" stamp is Finnish Army.

But the gun is 100% WW2 issue British made. The mag is a post war modified version.

                  Cheers, Ade.

                    hi Ade,
thanks for your quick help ! In which price area they are dealed normally ? 300-400 euros probably ?

Furthermore, is it possible to see anywhere the production year in the code ?

Sorry I cannot help on values.

Production figures I don't have to hand. But the maker is Lines Brothers.

                      Cheers, Ade.

I will have a look afer a webpage about the production codes, number and so on.
In comparison to the Stenk Mk2, is the mk3 more rare or more common ?

                          Hello, compare these numbers:

Mk II: total essembled Fazakerley 1.950.000; Theale 95.000; BSA 404.000; Enfield unclear: total at least 2.600.000 from june 1941.

Mk III: Lines 876.886 from January 1942 in just over 18 months.

Many MkIII went to Finland in post war years, and the two sling swivels are tipical finnish mods.

This model Sten is very common here in Finland as an Deactivated gun, price range is 150-350euros.

Finnish Army(SA=Suomen Armeija) designated name: 9.00 KP Sten III(or II).

There was few other modifications done to these guns and they were blued. And most of them were never used after refurbishment.Only combat divers used em in training.
