    Stg44 with K98 Grenade launcher

    Hi,

Does anyone knows if the K98 grenadelauncher can be attached to the Stg44? Not only the launcher, but also the sight!

I ask it because i heard some people talking about the thread on the end of the stg44 barrel wich hold a cap you can remove by twisting.

Is there anybody who can show a stg44 attached with the launcher and the sight?

    Best regards,

    Karel

    hello

believe it is the MP43/1 with the extended muzzle nut that holds the launcher

have seen a photo of a relic one with a sight and launcher on, though not had the chance to try it out on mine

Yes, the K98 grenade launcher will fit the MP43/MP44/StG44 rifles. It will NOT fit the MKb42(H) and the MP43/1. They used their own special launcher which screwed on to the end of the barrel. The difference between these two groups is the diameter of the barrel - the later ones were stepped down to the same dimension as the K98 for this very reason. The only reason the later rifles had threaded muzzles was for a blank firing attachement which was either very scarce or not produced at all. That's the reason the muzzle threads were beginning to be eliminated near the end of production. Muzzle diameters was not the same from the early to late weapons, so the continuation of threaded muzzles was not done to be able to use both types of launchers.

I can't remember about the sight but I doubt the standard K98 unit will readily attach to the StG.

These are relics so the sight's band was damaged - as in almost all relic sights. I guess the Craig is right about it - its band required some modifications to fit the rifle

              Thanks Gary....
Regarding the picture, it makes my point. Not meant to be any sort of political statement - just to express my deep concern for the environment and the world we are leaving our children.
