Full auto C&R machine guns in Illinois

I am going to apply for my FFL C&R license. I was wondering if you can transfer and own C&R listed full autos if you live in Illinois and hold C&R license.
Or maybe it is better to move to Indiana, if you want to get one.

no full autos at all with c and r. they require special class 3 license, c and r is only for approved guns semi auto and collectibles. i had one , never used it and let it expire. a concealed weapons permit has more clout than a c and r. unless your buying and selling a lot of guns state to state and shipping state to state it wasn't worth the trouble. a concealed weapons holder here in fla can buy a hand gun and no waiting period. a c and r has to do a background check and still wait if i remember correctly. anyway the full auto permit is a whole different deal. call or talk to a class three lic dealer. they will set you on the path of knowledge. good luck, buy the way full autos prices are astronomical!

Illinois law does not permit any class three collectors transfers. The only class three dealers, in Illinois can carry modern weapons for law enforcement sales. Illinois state law prohibits even dewats and there is no legal way to own them.

        Worth noting:

As an individual, to transport a transferable machinegun across the state line into another state you need to have an approved BATFE form 5320.20. You fill it out, send it in, then wait for it to come back approved. You're just informing the BATFE of when and where the gun if not at the registered address.

With that said, if your machinegun happens to be classified by the ATF as a curio and relic (C&R) AND you have a valid C&R license, then you can transport the gun across state lines without the 5320.20. This is my reason for keeping a C&R license.

Illinois gun laws suck. If you want a machinegun, you'll have to move to Indiana.

        Good luck.

Strict gun laws, in Illinois have made it a crime free state. I believe that is what the Illinois politicians will tell you, other than if all the other states banned firearms, none of those tresspassers could come into Illinois and commit the rare crime that occurs.

Listen to those politicians. I would rather listen to what they would have to say as they hung, from meathooks, down the main streets of every city.

            Machineguns

Thank you for your replies and information. This is what I thought, but wanted to be sure and I couln't find that info on the web. When I will be able to, I'll definately move to Indiana. As far as Illinois and Chicago polititians, they make life "easy" for everybody. Right now if you want to park a car in the Chicago Downtown on the street meter, you have to put 16 quarters ($4) per hour. And they have no money to snowplow side streets in the Winter.

Another good thing about a C&R that a CCW cannot do for you is allow the seller to ship a C&R firearm directly to your door. A CCW does not allow for this.

Also no license is needed to own a class III firearm. Just the approved tax stamp. Only time a license would come into play is if you intend to make a business of selling class III weaponry.
