    k 98k

    Hello,
I am new and have a question about my K 98K. On the right side of the receiver there is a half stamped R on it. (Right side if you hold the stock to your shoulder) the rifle is mostly matching it’s a 660 1940 I have a photo but don’t know how to attach. Thanks in advance for all your help!

    Hi,

Pictures are a real help when it comes to answering questions. I have a web site and I will be glad to load your pictures on one of my web pages and email you the link so that you can post it here, if you like. leon.despain@verizon.net

I will leave your pictures on my web site as long as you wish.

The page with your pictures would not be accessable though my web site unless you know the exact page address, which is what I would email to you.

    Regards, Leon

There is a thread on another forum about this very thing- what is the serial number of the rifle? What are the barrel codes?

Thanks Mike, found it.. yes several experienced collectors and I are seeking an answer to this subject mark on Gunboards. Your rifle's image made it to us yesterday and it is especially interesting as its the first from Steyr/1940 to be positivily identified. Most of these show up in the VERY early 1941 Steyr production.. I would like to encourage you to go to Gunboards (or here- I will try and check back but I don't come to WA all that often) and share all your data for our research. Basically we need the serial number (including suffix most of all) and the barrel code. (all rifles of this period will have a full barrel code, date, blank provider and finishers acceptance)

In return I will try to answer any questions you may have regarding your rifle.
