    MP38 replica blank firing question

    Dear members,

Somebody told me that there are East European MP38 replica's for sale who can only fire blanks. However with a small modification at the end of the barrel (cut it out) then the MP38 is ready to fire real bullets.......

i think it is not true and i have made a bet with this guy.

Does anybody have any experiences / knowledge about this?

    cheers

They re-make them in Germany, aswell as FG42's, STG44's, MP3008 and some other weapons.

    Their website: http://www.ssd-weapon.com
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Thanks Rick for your reply, however we are not interested to buy one.

the point is that there is replica blank firing gun with this barrel:

as you can see there is an small pin in the barrel to prevent a real 9mm to go out......so he says that if you delete that pin the gun is ready for use.

      what you think guys?

      cheers

While it is probably possible to have a bullet exit the barrel if you remove the pin, I doubt the receiver and chamber would be able to accommodate the pressure associated with a live 9mm round .

The whole affair would likely result in damage to the weapon with the very real possibility of injury to the shooter and anyone standing by too closely.

Admittedly, I haven't seen one of the weapons in question, but I would not want to be on the firing line when this "experiment" was carried out!

          Best,

My belief is that no replica firearm ever designed and produced to date with the express purpose of chambering and firing only blank ammunition could successfully be converted to become the "real thing" and fire live ammunition.

You might find this link of interest:

Always an interesting thought to contemplate just the same.

Thanks Skipper and Will for your replies. I agree with Skipper (and Will!) that potentially the chamber can not handle the pressure.

However on the other hand my buddy claims that this particular gun is "made from the same material as an real gun" because that is why they made the pin. Reason is also the 9mm blanks. As Will already showed in his link, normally a blank firing weapon is 8mm and not 9mm. On top of that apparently, it is cheaper for a real gun manufacturer to produce the same kind of weapon with the pin then making a copy 8mm.

can somebody tell me how much an blank firing SMG would cost?

cheers guys for all the replies/ thoughts etc
