    Flare Pistol ...

Well, gentlemen ... here is an item I cannot recall being discussed and which I know nothing about.

What can you all tell me about this flare pistol. Comments are welcome and appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

Are you asking anything specific about the flare pistol? It's the standard Flieger Leuchtpistole, and can be found in various finishes and materials depending the maker and when they were manufactured. Usually made by ECKO, Krieghoff, Bittner, or Menz.

      Thanks ...

      John,

Many thanks and good to hear from you! This was the sort of information I was looking for. I do not have any references here for the flare pistol but knew there were folks out there like you who did.

      Much appreciated and best regards,

      Mike

        ???

Hard to tell from the photos, but isn't this the double barrel version since it has the switch on the rear to switch which barrel fires?

Mike, it is therefore much rarer. Typically Luftwaffe issue. Nice piece.

The switch not only selects which barrel fires first, but also should allow both barrels to be fired at the same time if so desired.

Just so happens I pulled a flare gun out of the woodwork today along with a partial ground Rohm and some other tidbits...all coming from the son of a 29th vet...
Although the flare gun I have is single barrel and not as nice looking as the one pictured, Wa marked, #'d and has wood grips...Looks to be light grey originally?? Everything there and working...I've never owned one and find it odd as something a veteran would want to bring back..
What are the values on flare guns??
