    Ammunition question

I have a small box of loose ammunition. Possibly a couple dozen rounds
of misc. ww2 ammo. The stuff is old it was a vet bring back. I am
a little concerned about the stuff becomeing unstable or the wife dropping
the box and having one go off.

Is there and easy way to make these safe?

There looks to be some 8mm mauser rounds as well as 30 cal
(m1 gerand) also so some 45acp and what looks like 9mm.

    thanks for any advice.

Drop 'em in a can of used motor oil. Let them sit for a couple of weeks or so. That'll fix 'em.....
At least that's what the "big boys" used to tell me.

Roninie's advice would probably work. You don't have to worry about the ammo discharging due to becomming unstable. basically when components breakdown in smokless powder type ammo they simply don't work. Hitting a primer when a round is dropped is possible, but I have never seen or heard of it.

even if the extreme small chance one goes off the bullet will probably travel a foot or two and the case will fly a bout ten feet.... thats about it. oh and it might wake you up in the middle of the night.

just store them with a little care, ammunition really is not dangerous.

Before you do anything to the bullets, if you want to get rid of them, I will take them if you havent already deactivated them.
