    k98 MARKING QUESTION

I just bought a DOT 1944 matching K98 rifle with a (sigh) sporterized stock. All markings are intact, but on the barrel it is marked "GERMANY". This has to mean that it was marked for export after the war, correct? I see no reference to this in law's K98 book. Thanks Gentlemen!

    Joe,
That is an import marking. Are you sure your rifle is matching? and not re-numbered?

Thanks Matt, just what I thought. Yes it is matching. I pick it up tomorrow. I went through it with Law's book at my side before I decided on buying it. The man was from Finland and he bought it for hunting back in the early 1950's. Will post pics of it when it arrives.
