Hi, sorry, I dont know anything about the numbers on these pistols as I dont collect pistols or firearms. Over here in the U.K. they are banned and I dont see the point in collecting something that does not work, if that makes sense! I really like looking at them though and appreciate it very much when I see quality examples posted up on the forum! You dont know how lucky you are over in the States, we get treated like children over here!! And you say you have a holster for the P.38 somewere..sweet, you must find it! And I would agree with you that the P.38 looks like it has hardly been used!!

Hi, the luger is a lovely piece also, and I can see why you dont want to fire it, the P.38 would be awesome to fire a couple of clips from, I would have been the same as you!! Your gunclub sounds like a great place to spend a few hours a week at, but I can see what your talking about regarding their 1943 Thompson SMG.. would be expensive if you got carried away!! I will one day get the chance to fire a pistol etc, but I will have to wait until I visit the States some day, but until then I will enjoy looking at the lovely examples that you guys post up! Cheers,
Kai

Thanks for the info SE, I only asked this as I have heard about, 9mm short, 9mm luger, 9mm parabellum rounds etc, and was not too sure what one was used for these pistols durind the TR period. Is it the same 9mm parabellum round that would be used in a modern Glock, Beretta etc or do you need to get special ammo made up for it?

Kai, 9mm Luger is the same as 9mm parabellum which is actually 9x19mm the 19mm is the length of the casing... 9mm short is actually .380 Auto.
There are different loads you can get, but if you want to fire your Luger or P38 I would NOT use a hot load. 115gr. rounds will work the best IMO make sure the ammo you are using is regular FMJ round nose. Don't bother using any hollow points etc. If the Luger is all matching, I would not use it. However I don't see too much harm in using your P38.
