    Hitlers P.38

This gun is a topic of discussion on WRF.I thought we might review it here on WAF http://www.hitlersgun.com/ This is the previous discussion http://warrelics.eu/forum/firearms-o...tler-guns.html

Interesting to note that no one really gave an opinion about the finish. Which is weird, to say the least. IMO there is no document or whatever that could be considered as a proff that this one was given to Hitler.
A lot of hearsays and baseless opinions on this one.

    Just my two cents.

It can't be Hitlers gun. I own it with his personal foot warmer , hemorrhoid pillow and telephone. Sold to me by a reputable dealer Named Snyder.

That P.38 is worth around $300 as a shooter. On the range that I go to, I would not envy the remarks that the shooter would get when he took that one out to shoot!! The crowd at my range is not very PC!

I've put finer finishes on metal with a piece of emery cloth while riding cross country in the back of an APC than is present on that pistol.

The only thing worse than the ruined P.38 is all of the BS text that goes with it and found at the "History" addendum link.

At least 90% of everything written is a joke and lie.

The most stupid thing written there (although the choice is tough to make!) is that serial number 1 (no letter) is the rarest number because there was only one per model (whatever the BS is about the 8 models), serial number 1 (no letter) is just as rare or common as any other number ....hence the term SERIAL NUMBER! Lord help public education in this country.

            Just peeked.

Some simple minded sap falling for this BS.

Juvenile suppositions to back it up?

Hope nobody is out any money over this.

Cmon guys, everyone knows pimped out nickle and gold plated guns were all the rage in Nazi Germany. Most likely this isn't Hitlers gun, but Adm. Dönitz personal Uboat pistol.

I have a rare P38, one of a kind as most know that there is only 1 per model, serial 3286 a.

I did see this on the treasures of Snyder the other day, reportedly "unissued". Of course Eva Brauns allegedly!

That is an "AC43" stack, with serial number "1". Definately not Hitler's gun, since, to my knowledge, Hitler never owned a P38, and he certainly didn't like "flashy" guns like this.

Phil's statements are correct. There is nothing about serial number "1" that is rarer than any other serial number produced! They only made one of serial number "2" as well!.. and only one of serial number "3" and "4" and "5",........ you get the idea right? Actually, I think I'd rather have serial number 9999z. Most of them didn't even make it to that high of number each year, so techincally it would be rarer than serial number "1".

This is yet another example of my famous quote to all collectors, "Buy the item, not the story!"

Bottom line... someone ruined a nice "AC43" P38, and is trying to make up for thier mistake.

Umm, I thought that the Nazis considered smaller pistols to be status symbols (for some odd reason) and the higher the rank, the smaller the pistol- hence why the PPK Party models were available?
