Here is my live one before I had an adaptor made for the MG 3 Tripod. The gun is NFA registered with ATF and live.

Wow, that is cool. Unfortunately, ammo and links are non-existent, so the live status doesn't really matter except for legal purposes and value. Or, am I wrong and you do indeed shoot this baby? If so, please elaborate on your source for ammo!

I've heard the MG131 and MG151 were used in ground roles and mounted in/on vehicles. Have you researched this?

What caliber is this aircraft machine gun? 7.9mm or larger?
Were there two of these mounted on the top front cowling of the ME109?

Of course I shoot the MG 131!!! I have about 200 links currently and able to pick up some here and there occasionally. Dies for reloading the 13x64b mm can be had from C&H Tool and die for about $350.00. The .50 cal rock chucker is the loading tool used for the dies and cases use standard large primers. The bullets I make via a 4-mold unit I had commisioned. The troubling thing is the cases which I have to form from other brass.....alot of work for about ten minutes of shoot time.

This one came out of a vets collection who I have pictures of pulling it from the 109 outside of Munich Germany after the war in 1945 (left nose cone). I also have the MG 17 that also came out of a 109. I also shoot that from the MG 3 tripod

Wow, you shoot it, that's great to hear! I recall a MG131 and a MG151 (both transferables) for sale a few years back and the price was right, but I didn't pursue it because of the availability of ammo. That's awesome that you "roll your own" so to speak. Considering the terrain on the east front, it's surprising that more of these arms weren't used on scout vehicles, etc. You've got a very unique "50" there.

What would you guess the ROF to be? I think I read 750 somewhere which would be really rocking and rolling on that MG3 mount.

What part of Ohio are you in and you can try the rate of fire out for yourself. I am in Lebanon (PM me for a phone number). Personally, I think it is up there with my 42, but a little slower say around 900-1000 rounds per minute. I will even be nice enough to let you do all the linking to really get the "living history" effect
