I love the Brady site citing that a WHOPPING FOUR cases that they bring to light involving "assault weapons" is somehow significant in their hard money and efforts to bring down the offenses committed by such weapons. Lets look at the number of violent crimes committed by known criminals with handguns shall we? The notion that Brady and his cronie study group, whom I am sure he is retiring nicely from the profits, is absurd at best.

Funny that Brady was shot with a simple wheelgun revolver, if my memory serves correct. Hinkley did NOT whip out an AK-47 and start emptying a 30 round mag toward Reagan and Brady caught in the crossfire.

Sad to hear that your have lost your collection. What has happened in Australia is what 'ol Gimpy can't even fathom happening here.........but..he is...soooooo very wrong!!!! I had a college professor during the 1970's who told me a story about a coup in Venezuela...sometime in the early 30's...where his father and brother were carted off on a school bus and he never saw them again. This was after the government had earlier disarmed the citizens of their village....taking.... even...pitchforks away from them!!! He was very adament about the government taking away guns from us here in the US and I remember his statements to this day!!! Fear of government my friends.....is why we have a constitution. Our forefathers new it...and it is even more true today than it was when the constitution was written....not less so as Gimpy would probably say. JMHO Dana

          Sorry, my error.
As noted above - in 1989 Bush signed an executive order to stop the importation of foreign made assault weapons. Bush was a Conservative Republican and yet he used his authority to support anti-2nd Amendment demands.

The import ban was no small thing. Prices went sky high after that. Sorry I got my wording wrong, as a result people did not get my point.

The Main Point: No politician should get a free pass, they all have to be watched.

          Best regards,

          Greg

I love my country(United States) and i love my state(Kentucky), thats what makes us different from other countries. My country says i can own a gun and my state says can carry them concealed. I do feel for our aussie friends as well as our British friends.

The firearms death rate in the U.S. leads the world by 10 miles. Austalia and the UK aren't even in the honorable mention list. Don't worry, the evil commie black man in the white house won't take your AK47....

                Hi John,

Fact: States and cities with the strictest gun control to out right gun bans have the highest crime rates. Facts are a pesky little things when your argument is based on emotions.

Another little problem is in the USA we have this thing called a constitution and in it there is a little thing called the 2nd amendment which guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. This is something other countries do not have.

I would rather have my right and take my chances. What do dictators always do before they subdue a people?

I will get off my soap box now,

Why not? It is a great study of the citizens views pertaining to the subject matter. My opinion that something is coming is still present, however after the Mass. special election, I dont know that things will take that turn. People are speaking, and perhaps Congress is listening?

Wishful thinking. It's full on CYA mode for them now.

Considering there are over 300 million FREE people in America and it's guns that have been a large part of that freedom, I would suggest you move to a totalitarian country where you and Obama will feel more at home. There are millions upon millions who would love to take your place...

I think your statistics prove my point. If you can't live with the man elected by the majority of the people in this democracy (the commander-in-chief) --- you know "Free Country", I suggest you move... (just for the record, I have plenty of guns as is my constitutional right)

It is NOT Obama that is the PROBLEM! It is the Clinton, Emanuel, Holder anti-gun individuals that craft policy to "suggest" to the President. It will be Political suicide for the President should he listen to these fools that he placed around him.

Trying to leave politics out of this.
                              My point was:
I enjoy gun ownership as do the rest of you. But every high school, college, work-place, Ft Hood massacre is another nail in the gun ownership coffin. If we don't enact something effective to keep weapons out of the gang-bangers and loonies hands, none of us will be allowed to own them. The NRA stance of no give-a-little will doom us all.
