Just went and looked at a P38, it's a mismatch, but what is weird is that there is absolutely no markings, or any firing proofmarks at all on the slide. It is completely blank on the slide..... The frame of the pistol, especially around the triggerguard area shows some light to moderate pitting, while the slide shows no pitting. The frame is serial number and bears a small Waa 359 stamp. It looks like a postwar assembled parts again, with the exception of that no markings slide, it also shows no signs of having any markings on the slide, i.e. doesn't appear to be ground, etc.
Any thoughts as to the slide? Could this be a postwar, immediate put together by a GI with a factory slide that hadn't been fitted to a pistol yet?
