Speaking of Lugers, My First Vickers!!

Not exactly a garage sale find, but you never know what will be at a gun show. That's part of the fun.... I'd always wanted a Vickers Luger, but never dreamed I'd get one. Saw one that was junk, and nearly gave up.
Then this!! Note the Crown over "V" on all the toggle links!!

Grips numbered to the pistol, with "GS" marks for Gewer School. Grips made and installed in Indonesia.
Most of the original Vickers Mfg. pistols were shipped without grips. Thus these "theater made" by a gunsmith school in the area.

Here's a 1933 date on TOP of the bbl, which, knowledgable folks say is a rework date.

very nice gun ronnie I hope you didn't break the piggy bank open , i never saw a vickers luger before. makes me wish for the old days when guys here had 50 or so lugers for sale on one table. at 200 to 300 a piece. i only knew that i didn't know enough about them to buy a good one so i bought none! even a bad choice back then would have gone up in value. oh well once again congradulations

Thanks for your comments, Pitts. I am told by the "knowledgable ones" that this one is in a lot better condition than is usually found. Seems like the harsh humid environment of the Indonesian climate took a severe toll on the Vickers lugers.
It has been refinished once. Many of the Vickers lugers have been refurbished several times. But this one retains it's original barrel. Thus the British proof marks. Bore is surprisingly good.

Very Nice Vicker's Luger Ronnie. You were lucky to even find one for sale. You expect the Vicker's to have some wear and tear, but that one is minimal.
