    1914 Mauser

    Trying to gather info on this pistol as well as showing you a few pics. I believe it's a "1914 Mauser" Serial # 3027xx built between 1923-29. If anyone knows better, please post.

    Who used this pistol mainly? Was it German police, officers, soldiers??

    I'm not one to care much about value since i'll probably never sell this piece however, the curiosity factor remains. I figure around $350-$500?

    Anyway, if someone has any historic information to share, that would be great. I saw a few different variants of this pistol that had different front sights.

          This model was introduced in 1914 and made until the introduction of a modernized version called 1934. Around 600,000 (if I'm not mistaken) were made during this time frame.

          These pistols were alloed for private purchase by German officers during WWI and many saw service during WWII (I have one that was taken from a Luftwaffe soldier in Italy TO). Others were bought by the Imperial Army Ordnance as Behelfpistolen (substitute pistols) to be used by rear echelon units and, in this case, bears the Prussian eagle stamped in the front of the trigger guard.

          The Mauser 1914 also proved to be popular among Police units and were carried by them for many years, including the Weimar and III Reich periods. In such cases these pistols usually have the unit mark stamped somewhere in the pistols grip or frame.

          In your case, your pistol seems to be an exportation pistol as it has the "Germany" mark - something that was done on guns shipped to US.

            Douglas is correct. Your Mauser 1914 is an import. (meaning it was sold commercially overseas, most likely the US.) Therefore it was certainly not used by any German police, or Military officer, or soldiers. Most likely was purchased here by a gun loving American!
