This 45 was offered for sale. I would appreciate any opinions regarding condition, value, and scarcity. Not collecting guns per se, I just do not know enough about these to make an offer. Thanks for any help.

Steve, it appears to be an original finish example, is the barrel HS marked ? i have a RemRand in the same s.n.# range 14237xx most of the pistols in this serial range were shipped to the Navy. if the barrel is HS marked (blued finish) and the price reasonable snatch it up. regards

I would say in the thousand dollar mark give or take. It is in fine condition.
1200 hundred tops! Most I have seen in that shape are going for those number's.

It looks very good, and I am saying the original finish on the pistol. It does not look to have been arsenal re-worked. I would put the finish in the 75-80% range. Nice pistol. I would add that the man to ask is Bill Grist!!!!Last edited by Suber; 02-12-2009, 08:36 PM.Comment

The HS "High Standard" should be right on the barrel link on the bottom, must take it out of the slide to see it. (the part that holds the barrel to the frame)

A great looking 1911A1
s/n on my Remington Rand is 1424998 (don't know to who it was shipped)
And instead of the 'H' on yours trigger guard mine has an 'N'.
Can't comment on the prices as EU to USA is too different...
