Show of Shows Ohio Valley Military Soc.

Has any one been to the Ohio Valley Military Society show in Louisville Kentucky? If so, what was your impression and are prices reasonable or about one would expect at any other gun show. Thanks for your replies.

    Hi Herr,

Prices are usually high but bargains can still be had. It ranks as one of the best military shows I have attended.

Honestly, I'm not making fun of you. Asking these guys if they know anything about the SOS is like asking a sailor if he has ever been out on the ocean. This is a must-go-to-show for the serious enthusiast and collector. Even if you don't buy anything, it is an educational experience that you really should not miss! Book your hotel room now, if there are any left within a 25 mile radius...maybe 50 mile radius!! Honest!
      Better than the MAX!

Anyone going to the SOS from Punta Gorda, FL area

Anyone going to the SOS from Punta Gorda, FL area

I have a table at the show and have been checking air fares from Ft Myers and thought maybe before I book one I should see if any other board member or dealer who's also setting up there, is driving up from the area or some where where I could meet up with them close by and ride with and help split the driving costs. So far the air fares have been running close to three hundred with no direct flights and long flight hours. Ray

I agree with all the above statements. This show is a must for any serious collector, and also a great show for the beginer too. There are litterally people from all over the world at this show!

I remember the first time I went. I was overwhelmed at the sheer size of it. It has gotten bigger since then!!
The size is so big because it is really two shows in one! There is the military show, called the SOS (show of shows) in one hall. Then there is the gun show, called "National Gun Day" show, in another (even bigger) hall. Both shows have tons of guns and stuff you would be interested in.

I would highly recommend this show to anyone.

              Matt

No responses so I booked a flight. $214 with plane changes each way with short layovers, Not the best but at least not $300 plus, Ray

i travel around 4500 miles to get there which should give you an idea of how highly i regard it.

Great place to meet collectors and famous veterans. No steals there, as most of the sellers know what they have. Prices were high on japanese rifles last time I was there.

What are the exact dates of the SOS this year? I am really thinking about going.

The military show (SOS), opens on Thursday March 6th, I believe it's open to OVMS members at noon. The gun show (Nation Gun Day show), opens to the public on Saturday morning. Both shows go through to Sunday, but by Saturday afternoon, most of the military show is closing up.

Like Matt said, the SOS opens on Thursday, March 5th for dealer setup and OVMS members can get in that day starting at 12:30pm. The public cannot get in until 9am on Friday, March 6th.

I am going to take a couple of pistols with me to sell since I am sort of shy about selling them over the internet, a P-38 CYQ 4XX K w/2 mags, Blue is 97%, and a J.P.Sauer & Sohn-Suhl 7.65 w/waffenamts Blue is 90% plus, w/ 2 mags & a OTTO SINDEL Berlin 1941 black holster. If anyone has any idea what price range should be on these, please let me know.
