It would seem to be of more value to your family then some collector.

I do not believe that most of them would want all the locations on one of their rifles.

I didnt notice that, good eye!!!

That drops the gun into the parts range usually(since its refinished as well), but I would keep as is because of the history to it(couldve been done last week though). If you sell it to japanese collectors, you wont get alot of money for it, personally, I would pay no more than 125 for it in present condition, matching bolt or mismatch bolt.

I wouldn't have even noticed myself, I don't know anything about these rifles. Could you explain or show me what the extractor is and where it goes?

I might just keep this one, it's unique and my son likes it. Today, I had thought about taking it to someone to check it out and see if it in working order.

The extractor is on the bolt, and it rotates with the bolt when you open and close the bolt.

It is the thing, that the bolt is resting on in the picture.

Your gun is a neat rifle, and it has alot of history to it, its just a shame about the extractor and the finish. I am not sure how to get a new extractor on to the bolt, so another bolt might do the trick(if you want to shoot it).

It's a Type 99 Series 24, not 32.

The refinish and writing on the stock lower the value as a regular Type 99, but it is interesting as part of the package including the photo and other memorabilia. I would keep it together as a package if I were you. If you ever want to sell the whole package I would be interested.

If this is the "short" type 99, I assume I should get a 4.16'' extractor?

Its the short type 99. The long ones are harder to find, they made less than 50,000 of them.

All Kokura-made rifles used the long (4 7/8") extractor. Some of the other arsenals switched to the short extractor late in production.
