    m-1 sniperscope marked box

    Hello,

I just acquired two boxes marked Sniperscope, M-1 and Snooperscope, M-1
    dated 12-17-43.

    Boxes are ligth gray.
    I'll post pics later.

Seems to be part of the power supply for infrared scopes, but I couldn't find any other info.

Has anybody some doc on these devices ?

    Thanks.

They are the early version of the IR scope for the M1/T3 carbines. Can you post some pics? I will look for some pics of the early ones. I posted some pics of an "M3" actually a Set No1, 20,00 volt sniperscope a few months ago but they disappeared with a change in the server.

Here is the 1/6 scale toy GI Joe version of the M1 or M2 snooperscope.

      saw one on tv

there was an old tv show in the late 50s early 60s that had one of these and i saw one on ebay years ago. it was very much like the pictured toy. the show had a sniper terrorizing the city and they went through the tech stuff on the scope real in depth. it seems the way to combat a sniper with one of these shooting people in the dark of night was to use one yourself and they could see his infrared light in thier scope when he had it on . they drew his fire somehow, and when he shot at decoy, they shot him. the show starred robert taylor and others. interesting stuff. the one on ebay was complete with case scope and module batteries were dead and i think the price was a couple grand or less.

          Very nice Dufleuve

Looks like you have two very rare power suppies and with luck have both types of marking. I have heard they were marked as both sniperscope and snooperscope but have only seen one.

Looks like they both have the same date. Anyone have a collection of these?

It seems there exists a TM 5-9340 from 1944 that covers the sniper/snooper scopes.

But I cannot find a source for it.

It is a really rare manual thay was considered top secret at the time. I have been looking for a long time and not seen one yet. I would settle for a copy.
