need some info on K98 I just aquired

This is one of three k98's I own. Picked it up today. It's a bringback with no import markings. But it appears someone schalacked it. Reciever is marked 147 1939. it's also marked 7379, has a cursive "k" and the eagles appear different from each other from the left side of the reciever to the right. Eagles all have swastikas. Bolt is a mismatch to the gun with 6551 on it. And the stock has an "L" on it with 3 waffenstamps with the middle one being the only legible. It has I believe a 77 under it, kinda looks like an ss also but ??? I don't know alot about these. The little research I did find on it was this rifle manufacturer only built for the Heer, but doesn't the "L" on the stock dictate Luftwaffe. Or I guess it could of been replaced? Under some of the eagles there are #'s 359 and 37. It is missing the rear sight and bottom mag plate. Any help would be appreciated
    thanks

The receiver is a J.P.Sauer marked one......I'm thinking the stock should show a 359 WaA as well.....So, is quite likely a replacement......Is the stock serial numbered on the buttstock, or internally?.....It's an early one so should be.....The "L" is indeed a Luftwaffe issuance proof.....Bodes

It's serial #'d on the buttstock7027 and has a waffenstamp with 77 under it

Stock is from an earlier ERMA made 98k - those are pre steyr E/77 proofs. Don't do anything to the stoack - you can easily trash what value the stock has by "cleaning".
The action while not really collectable is still worth something minimally as a shooter if the bore is good. Overall this rifle is in the same value category as the russian jobs due to mismatch condition. The stock adds a little more as it does not appear to be post war hammered or sanded. Lacking import markings does not indicate a veteran bringback as many tens of thousands of these were sold as surplus in the 1950's and into the 60's with no import markings. As well even flea market bubba types know that removing import markings allow them to add value to even the common SKS.

I only gave one Franklin for it so I figured I couldn't go wrong with it even if it was mismatched, It came from his Grandfather who is deceased. The grandson didn't know anything else about it. He didn't even know what kind of gun it was.
