    WW2 German pistol questions......

I have a friend that is interested in a couple of ww2 german pistols and I was wondering what a fair price would be for them. I was also wondering what the different numbers mean if they can be decoded.

#1 Is a Walther P-38 Ac41 with eagle/swastika, has the number 359 on it, serial # 99x7i (x replacing actual number). The magazine also has the number 359 on it. This pistol also comes with a holster marked BLA 44 and WA 159

#2 Is a AG Oberdorf Mauser Werke HSC 7.65. I am not sure about the numbers or markings on this one yet have to look at it later.

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

The AC 41 stands for 1941 Walther production. Value on this one as well as the other could be all over the place depending upon condition, import marks, matching numbers, etc. Without pictures and a more detailed description it would be tough to give a value.

i'm a buyer at a hundred bucks!, no really these guys here are good at value but like jtb said you could be 400 to 4000 dollars spread. and you will find that even at double the book price you would not part with your pistols once aquired.i use the blue book of gun values. about 40 dollars a year. excellent , detailed info. light on pictures, but i find the info better than pix anyway.

The AC41 should have a numbered mag to match the pistol serial # , the number should be the same on frame , slide, and under the barrel flat. Also the last 3#'s of ser# should be on the locking block. Condition is everything so you will see a wide range of estimates on it. could be from $600 for a mismatched shooter (even lower if refinished) to $2000 for a 99% with a matched mag. A rather desireable pistol with many small parts that should have the e/359 on them, grips included.

The Hsc in very good condition will max out at about $550

Your 44 dated holster must be a soft shell holster and max's out at around $125 ( I do not get into holsters so I may be wrong)

As far as the blue book goes you may as well throw it out when it comes to military pistols like p38's and lugers. It is more of a collector driven market.

For example I do not have an AC41 and might pay more to fill the hole in my collection to get one regardless of the condition. The next guy might be looming for one to resell and will try to lowball you on it. Good luck on yours

Thanks for the info guys. I wish I had pics i believe that both guns are WW2 bringbacks without import marks and are all matching. From what i have heard the bluing is 85-95%.

'44 dated hard shell holsters are not all that uncommon. I own one, and have handled others.
