Bodes, "byf" rifles have a "WaA135" on the right sides, not an "eagle H".

Every "bcd4" I have ever seen had a "eagle H". I can't speak for earlier "bcd's".

Nice early "bcd4" LSR. I have a friend who owns one within 200 of this serial number so I will ask him about the buttplate on his and whether the front bands are numbered. I know his has the stamped and blued bands. I tend to doubt they are numbered and suspect his butt plate may not be the serrated style found on later rifles

As for a "bcd" stock the later LSRs that I have all have the "eagle H" on the right side of the stock. As well as the "c" that Bodes stated.

It is worth seeking a "bcd" stock IMO.

This Rifle should have a Checkered Buttplate and also a BCD in the U block
would have Ser#ed Bands , The Stock as stated should have Eagle H and most
likely a C proof on Comb of Stock and Stock would also be Ser#ed to Rifle

I do have to make one correction in my last statement if this is a BCD completed Rifle it should have a Checkered Buttplate , but if it is Sauer it most likely would not as I said in earlier Post the best way to know look at Final Exceptance Proof WaA749 Gustloff WaA37 Sauer. All LSR`s I have ever seen
that were BCD had Checkered Buttplates and All CE LSR`s I have seen Except for one had Smooth buttplates and this one CE LSR that had Checkered Buttplate had a BCD4 Rec. but Final Exceptance was WaA37 and Barrel was same WaA37 Either way the Collector has a Nice LSR and even thought Stock is not Correct the best part is Mount Matches and that is hard to come by and
in my opinion the Hardest Scope & Mount LSR to find is this First Model Dow & Machined Ring Mount and again it matches

I can tell from the font of the serial and letter suffix, along with the small firing proof that this one is a JP Sauer.

I just got out a magnifying glass to check out the WaA on the top of the receiver... It isn't a 749, as I previously thought, but is in fact 37. I never bothered to look real close, as I thought it was a Gustlof rifle, being bcd coded. I have a couple other bcd rifles, and they are both clearly 749, so I had never bothered to check this one real closely...

I know the photo is not great, but in "Receiver Photo #2" the E/37 proof is visible in the lower right hand corner of the photo.

Am I correct in saying (an assumption on my part) that the receiver only was sent to Sauer from Gustlof where it was completed into a scoped rifle?

If this is correct then he would in fact need a 44 vintage JP Sauer stock.

I guess that I missed that. Basically the guy on the first page kept suggesting that this was a JP Sauer made rifle...which it has proven to be, albeit using a Gustlof made receiver....but apparently that is the only non Sauer made rifle part...scope and mount excepted.

My confusion until now,given my lack of detailed knowledge of the LSR, was that I thought that a bcd made rifle had only been scope fitted at Sauer rather than actually assembled there from a bcd reciever.
