I understand it's an early Russian made example. That still doesn't justify the $43,000 price!
My best friend is in Afganistan now, and he has found many Russian made examples from thier war in the 80s. Also, you can go to many markets and buy one for less than $20US. (and yes, they are Russian mane ones, not the cheap "home made" Afgan copies.)

That being said, I looked at all the guns and prices, and some of them don't seem too far off, but there are a few (M1a1 carbine, AK47 in particular), that are way too high! There was one that actually seemed low to me! It was the SS K98 sniper. I thought that one would be higher priced? (it's still high though, but I thought it would sell for more?)

FYI- Off the subject a bit, but if anyone's interested, by best friend is going to be on an HBO documentary on Afganistan. He had an HBO film crew follow him around and mic him up for a week. He's not sure what the special is going to be called, but it should be on HBO sometime in January or February I believe.

      Thank you for this link.
I am in the process of documenting prices realized for the FG-42G, the first model. Passing on any similar documentation would be greatly appreciated.

This auction house also appears to have generated record prices for other firearms, but the quality of the items is superior as well.

Would anyone care to speculate on a fair market price for an FG-42 First model without telescopic sight and magazine in good condition?

I have to ask... what does that have to do with anything? At one point, Russia was giving these away for free. You'd be an idiot to spend even $20 then.

My point is-- if you find one overseas it can't be imported into the US any longer.

Wow! There were 2 beautiful FG42's in the Duke's Armory museum a few blocks away from me...one of them mysteriously disappeared about 10 years ago, probably in a 'back-door' deal...
