Opinions on an AX41

You may want to amend your description of the ax41 rifle. The stock is definately not original to the rifle. It's a white glue laminate from 1944 or 1945, and it has been refinished. The dot made stock of that period with white glue laminate is the most common ( especially w/bayo lug and not setup for cleaning rod ), but this stock could very well have been off of a bcd.
The bayo lug and front band arrangement definately are reblued and I would think the bayonet lug is not serialed to the rifle as it would have been.

I wrote back to him and told him that the front band is not numbered but that the bayo lug is, in fact, numbered to the rifle. I am not sure that the parts mentioned are reblued. I looked and I can't tell for sure. If someone would like me to post more pictures of the area in question, I'd be happy to oblige. I did have one other member, 'voiceof reason', mention on the e-satand that he thought it was a DOT stock , but he never got back to me, when I asked him to expound further on the subject, in the appropriate forum.

I too am not a big fan of this ax... I would expect the exterior of the wood to be cartouched and numbered internally and on the bottom keel as well. The wood appears cleaned or sanded or both. White glue wasnt used in '41 as implied from Bill.

Show a pic of the stock where inlet for the bolt ball (to possibly help w/ the maker ID). Show a pic of the serial on the bayo lug and buttplate. Is the stock cartouched on the right side? Is the stock numbered on the keel? Pics?

Stock not cartouched on right hand side and not numbered. It has been sanded and varnished.
